Internship Project / The ESU Bulletin

Illustrator, 2"x10" or 4"x6",  2025

I worked as a Design Editor for the ESU Bulletin for one year, creating approximately 40 pieces, including weekly event graphics, article covers, and layouts for both the printed newspaper and online newsletter.

For each project, I first met with the Editor-in-Chief to confirm the format, dimensions, purpose, and hierarchy of information. Based on these discussions, I researched the theme and visual references, developed the composition, and refined the details through feedback. Since I was generally given creative freedom, I explored visual approaches suited to each article or event while making the information clear and accessible to readers.

Through this experience, I learned that effective editorial design depends not only on visual appeal but also on typography, information hierarchy, and the balance between text and graphics. I also learned to understand the editor’s intentions before prioritizing my own expression and to create designs that maintained the readability and overall visual identity of the publication.

ESU Bulletin
